The woman smiled politely at Roland and then looked over at Diane with a hint of question in her eyes. Diane was beyond amused by the entire exchange, but took pity on her and held out a hand, inviting her to sit and share her lounge chair.

"This is Roland," she said by way of invitation. "He's exceedingly polite as you can see. I'm Diane."

"Pia," the other woman replied. She spoke with a soft accent that Diane couldn't identify. "Lovely to meet both of you. Are you enjoying your stay here on Risa?"
