If he was expecting her to be horrified, he was going to be very disappointed. She wasn't entirely sure what she was feeling, but it certainly wasn't horrified. If she had to give a name to it, it was something more like awe. The kind of awe she thought maybe people were talking about when the bible tried to explain angels. Diane certainly isn't religious, but it's really the only comparison that seems to fit.
Maybe that's why he was the one to find her here. Maybe he is her awful angel.
